Kirkpatrick Dam

Below the dam the angler can fish from either of two handicapped accessible fishing piers.

or along the spillway.

For those that like a slower pace, the connecting canal between the spillway and the old Ocklawaha River channel offers a quiet spot to cane pole fish.

Access to the Ocklawaha River below the dam is possible from good double concrete ramp east of the spillway.

Although this ramp allows access to the old river and not into Rodman, it is worth mentioning because it adds to the overall enjoyment of fishermen and boaters visiting the area. A road that can be seen from Kirkpatrick Dam leads down to the ramp, and parking is on the spillway side of the dam. The ramp is a good concrete double ramp with plenty of parking. A park has been developed around the spillway area with picnic pavilions, tables and bar-b-que fire containers.

The area is clean and well maintained and you should feel that your boat trailer and vehicle are secure while you are fishing. Bank fishing from either side of the spillway or from the fishing piers located on either side of the spillway channel is very popular and often rewarding.

Nice restroom facilities adjoin the park and ramp parking lot.
